It’s easy to be distracted by all the trappings of worldly life. Our heavenly Father wants to provide for our physical comfort and will often surprise us with His care and gifts (1 Tim. 6:17). But if you’ve ever become overwhelmed with the pressure of such pursuits, you understand the danger.
Jesus said we mustn’t become like salt that has lost its flavor (Matt. 5:13). That means we’re to focus on God’s ways, not dissolve into something that looks like the world with all its confused priorities. This month, I pray you’ll ask God to guide your heart. Then, no matter how much you’re blessed, you’ll remain grounded in His Word and His love and will be able to enjoy a great compliment: being called “the salt of the earth.”
