A Word From Dr. Stanley

September 2021

Have you noticed how much of the Christian life is about patience? Many times I’ve found myself waiting for an answer to prayer or the end of adversity, as I’m sure you have. And most of all, we’re waiting for Christ’s return and the fulfillment of His glorious kingdom here on earth. Hallelujah! What a day that will be. Until then, however, we learn patience. The apostle Paul remarked that we “groan, being burdened,” as we long for the glories of eternal life; but “He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave us the Spirit as a pledge” (2 Cor. 5:4-5). This month, ask the Holy Spirit to fill you each day with confident hope for the world to come—and a radiance that brightens this world for the people around you.

4 For indeed while we are in this tent, we groan, being burdened, because we do not want to be unclothed but to be clothed, so that what is mortal will be swallowed up by life.

5 Now He who prepared us for this very purpose is God, who gave to us the Spirit as a pledge.
